How to Build Businesses That Run Themselves
By Alyx Jordan
“As someone whose mind generates ideas constantly, I’ve often been told I should focus on just one thing. The truth is, my brain flourishes on variety. I wrote this book because I had so many ideas for different ventures and needed a system to bring them to life. I enjoy running micro ventures and lifestyle businesses while still being present for my family, traveling, creating, designing, and building again. Making these ventures run on automation is essential. As an introvert, managing large teams doesn’t suit me the way it once might have, so creating structures and high quality teams that work without me at the centre is key.
I wrote and published this as part of a wider body of work, and finishing it matters more to me than I expected. It took a few attempts, with constant edits as I learned and refined my thinking. I wanted one place to hold the way I build, the lessons I return to, and something I could share without starting from scratch each time. It reflects how I’ve built multiple ventures, including those I’ve chosen to close. There is vulnerability in putting it out, knowing I’ve already grown beyond parts of it. Still, I’m proud of it. It’s done, it’s real, and it’s mine.”
